unpolitical = braindead
lfo demon (28.02.2003)
i´m
fed up with people pretending to be "unpolitical". i don´t believe
that a person is able to live "without politics". it´s even
an important political decision to decide not to care about politics. politics
is not only about what some jerks in parliament do but in fact about all aspects
of everydays live. eating at mc donalds or protesting against mc donalds for
example.
sorry, but all you "it´s all about the music - go away with your
politics"-wankers: we don´t want the same. i don´t give a shit
about "underground" or "hardcore" if this just means a certain
type of music. i want more than just another boring music-scene but a network
of people that try to create an alternative to the commercial exploitation of
music. keep the maximum control as possible over your releases, do your parties
in small locations with cheap prices and spread some information about issues
you are interested in.
there is so much shit going on in the world and i can´t close my eyes
in blind ignorance: racism makes me wanna puke, the same for the situation of
workers employed by multinational firms in south-east asia. industrial plants
and cars pollute this planet and it is still a long way to go for a world where
the status of people doesn´t depend on race, sex, origin, religion. just
to mention a few here, there are in fact some good reasons to get involved.
so fuck the politcs? yes, if politics means the games of the ruling class in
this system they call "liberal democracy" (in fact there are just
a few liberal aspects but much more repressive ones). i can definitly understand
people fed up with this form of politics: the system of delegating your own
will to another person just sucks. chose your own oppressor, this is what voting
is about. one man, one voice, this is the basic princip we believe in. be responsible
for your own live and get engaged and don´t let others decide what is
best for you. you also don´t have to wait for a revolution to come till
you get salvation. be a revolutionary in everydays life. you can start right
now: turn off the tv and read a book. find some people that share your views
and change the world! you don´t need leaders (neither persons, ideologies
or religion) telling you what to do.
but don´t take it so serious and become a dogmatic left-winged as there
are so many out there- you only have one life to live. don´t forget the
fun! i think the way of life offered by the various hardcore/punk-scenes (we´re
not talking about phenomenons like blink182 or biohazard but the d.i.y.-scene)
is a good example how creative resistance can work: education, agitation, music
and not only boring theories (the concept of rts is another good example). one
of the most import things punk showed: everyone can be an artist. take this
chance and get active. make your own music, run your own fanzine, recordlabel,
location, party, whatever ... and don´t be a victim of consumption. don´t
be an anarchist, be anarchy.
don´t believe those people who want to tell you "you have no choice
- there is no alternative to capitalism". in fact there are several! always
remember: history hasn´t endet yet - the story of mankind is still continuing
and it is you who decides which way it will take. at the end we have the hope
to see the fall of worldwide capitalism and see egalitarian political systems
instead: call it direct democracy, libertarian communism or anarchy.
i don´t want to indoctrinate you, i want to make you think. think by yourself
- and don´t let your idealism die.
stay punk!
